PROVENANCE: Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy BS75.1487 with bookplate of the BPL Benton Fund. Ink stamp of the Royal Library of Munich on a2 verso. Leaf a2 recto: ownership inscription of Schöntal Abbey ("Monasterij B.M.V. in Speciosa Valle"); "Sum ex libris Joannis Voet Kissingensis 1613."; presentation inscription signed by "Philippi Hyllij" and dated 1614. Early marginalia throughout. Formerly housed with this volume was a postcard from Emil Offenbacher to Herbert J. Rosenstern marked Sept. 18, 1946 discussing scarcity of the edition. Purchased 1999.
BINDING: Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy BS75.1487 bound in early blind tooled calf over wooden boards. Spine rebacked in deteriorated calf. Original clasps and catches removed.
